About the Job

The Commissary Kitchen produces thousands of meals, salads, and sides every week. We believe the best way to work and grow together is as a team. No one is above washing dishes, but we also encourage cross-training and skills development at all levels of the kitchen. We believe strongly in investing in our team members to become the best they can be!

Level 2 Cooks will need to make and follow an organized prep list for their station’s dishes, prepare and cook the dishes following the recipe set by the Chefs. This job primarily involves storing perishables, cleaning and processing fruit and vegetables, portioning dressings, and some light roasting/grilling, though Level 2 Cooks are also expected to be able to do prep and dishwashing tasks proficiently and on a regular basis. This person must have the ability to bounce back and forth between various tasks/projects.  Experience in high volume catering or restaurant kitchens is preferred. This is an am job; shift time and days of the week may vary. Luke’s Local provides health benefits (including vision and dental), paid time off, and sick pay.

  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions given by Chefs or kitchen supervisor

Work environment

  • Industrial kitchen and warehouse

 

Physical demands

 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive food prep motions.
  • Handling of refrigerated product in a cold environment for extended periods of time.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience with food preparation, service, and safety
  • Experience in a high volume catering or restaurant environment (2+ years)
  • Servsafe Food Handler’s Certificate

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be proficient in English

  • $21.50 - 22.50/hour
