Willie Bird Ranch
Willie Bird Ranch has been operating in Sonoma County, CA since 1948. Their free-range turkeys are raised on organic grains and are certified to be free of artificial pesticides and chemicals.
Branigan's
Branigan's Turkey Farm is a third generation family farm, established in Woodland, CA in 1942. Their turkeys are raised 6-8 weeks longer than other turkeys, making for a meatier and more flavorful turkey.
Mary's Heritage
Mary's Heritage turkeys are richly flavored, succulent, and juicy, with a larger proportion of dark meat. The excellent flavor is a result of their free range lifestyle.
-
Mary's Free-Range Heritage turkeys are based on the Narragansett breed of turkeys - one of the first ones that existed in the United States. They're allowed to roam in areas four times as large as commercial turkey ranches allow, and their flavor shows it! They breed naturally as well as run and fly. These extra activities result in larger thigh meat and slightly less breast meat than found on a typical turkey. All of these traits result in a superior tasting turkey that takes less time to cook than a regular turkey!
-
The Benedetti family began raising turkeys in the rolling oak studded hills of Sonoma County in 1948. Willie Bird Turkeys are free-range, eat a 100% vegetarian, corn and grain diet free of antibiotics. These broad breasted turkeys are nationally known for their superior quality, tenderness and taste.
-
The Branigan family has owned and operated their turkey farm since 1942. Their white broad breasted birds are fed organic, vegetarian feed sourced from neighboring farms. When the birds are old enough, they are allowed to freely roam on pasture. Branigan's meets animal welfare standards and are regularly inspected by the county. Because of the way they are processed, their birds retain less water and have a higher fat to meat ratio making for a juicier, more flavorful turkey. Branigan’s turkey farm proudly adheres to organic practices - their turkeys eat all organic, non-GMO feed.
-
About a pound and a half of raw meat will give you a good amount of cooked meat per person (plus leftovers!)
-
Our chefs recommend about a gallon of water to 1 cup of salt and a half cup of brown sugar - about the ratio you want. You can also add spices and herbs to flavor as you like. Let the turkey brine overnight (24 hours). If you’re brining your turkey, we advise you take it out of the brine the day before you cook it and allow it to dry out in the fridge. This will help crisp the skin.
-
Nope! By the time you receive your turkey, it will be brought to a temperature that’s ready to be cooked.
-
No, all the turkeys are deep-chilled - so kept at a low temp (26-32 degrees) to best preserve freshness since there are no added preservatives. They aren’t frozen, and by the time you receive them they will be fresh and ready to go.
-
Raw turkeys will be arriving at the store on November 16th.
