Luke's Local's Fight for Racial Justice

To our community:

We feel it is imperative that we speak out against the injustices our country has witnessed this last week, and the state-sponsored violence Black people in America have faced for far too long. To the Black members in our community - we stand with you. Black lives matter.

So long as the Black members of our community are unable to fully experience the values we aim to cultivate, none of us can. We are committed to participating in ongoing conversations and taking concrete actions to uplift and support the Black voices within our company, our community, and the world at large. We hope you’ll join us.

To start, we'll be matching every donation made to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in-store and on our app on Saturday, June 7th, up to $2,000. We’ve chosen the NAACP because we are passionate about seeing the momentum we’re experiencing reflected in lasting legislation. We encourage you to participate and donate.

We acknowledge that a one-time donation isn't enough, and we’re committed to having ongoing critical conversations and instating tangible actions as a company. We have begun an internal dialogue to ensure that all staff members have flexibility of schedule to participate in local, state, and national elections. We’re establishing a staff-led committee whose purpose will be to ensure this important dialogue is ongoing, as well as developing policies and company standards around diversity and the support of Black-owned farms, Black-owned businesses, and Black makers.

As always, we welcome the feedback of our community and highly value your input in the conversations we will be having. 

We look forward to doing the work, and acknowledge that this work is long overdue.
