About the Job

As the Commissary Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate transport of all house-made goods. Your base of operations will be the Commissary Kitchen, from where you will deliver daily to all of our San Francisco markets. It is essential to uphold food safety standards and ensure that deliveries are both timely and precise.

In addition to driving, you will handle administrative tasks related to inter-store transfers. You will also be expected to load and unload pallets of food, as well as maintain the vehicle as needed. A positive attitude, a team-oriented mindset, and a willingness to learn are crucial for this role. Must be available to work mornings and weekends.

Transferring Commissary Products to Stores

 

  • Wrap pallets: Pull all pallets from the walk-in fridge and wrap them securely
  • Communicate with store leadership regarding the timing of deliveries
  • Ensure the timely and secure delivery of daily house-made products from the Commissary kitchen to stores, making certain that the products are safely transported from the company vehicle to the store floor for staff to receive and stock on shelves
  • Ensure timely and secure delivery of inter-store transfers between locations
  • Transfer daily waste from each store back to the Commissary kitchen
  • Return empty crates and pallets to the Commissary, unload them, and put them away
  • Clean and transport dirty dishware from stores to the dish station
  • Assist in packaging kitchen products as needed
  • Assist with kitchen prep work as required


Compliance

  • Adhere to all city and state food safety guidelines and protocols for house-made products, including overseeing the execution of temperature logs for all deliveries to each location
  • Implement and uphold all food safety protocols


Vehicle Maintenance

  • Conduct vehicle maintenance, which includes fueling, cleaning, checking refrigerator temperatures daily, performing oil changes, and ensuring overall cleanliness
  • This applies to both the company vehicle and any courtesy vehicles provided while the company vehicle is being serviced
  • Maintain secure records of fuel receipts
  • Keep the company cell phone charged and secured at all times while in the company vehicle and away from the Commissary kitchen
  • Communicate with the manager regarding any maintenance issues before the end of each shift

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 
  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Can be on feet for up to 8 hours per day
  • Stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive stocking motions
  • Ability to use liftgate, dollies/hand truck, scanners, navigation
  • Handling of refrigerated products in a cold environment for extended periods

Travel required

  • Drive to store locations as needed
  • Must be able to safely drive in adverse weather conditions

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience with delivering and driving in San Francisco
  • Preferably minimum of one year of related experience in the delivery and sales of perishable food products.
  • Kitchen prep experience 

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Clean driving record
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Exceptional reading and writing skills; ability to distill complex information into clear, professional documentation
