About the Job
As the Deli Shift Lead, you are responsible for being the leadership presence on the floor and behind the line throughout your shift. You are expected to be the PIC (Person In Charge) and will often be responsible for opening and closing the store.Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is a required component of this role; all Deli Shift Leads must be available to work at least one weekend day regularly. In addition to your department responsibilities, you oversee the following:

- Supervising employees and assisting with tasks as necessary, including daily PIC check-ins with all staff, including daily PIC check-ins with all staff
- Distributing work evenly among all staff, assigning duties to specific employees based on role and skills
- Communicate with vendors and place regular orders to ensure successful daily operations of the deli
- Assist Store Manager and Assistant Manager in coordinating breaks as needed
- Ensure excellent customer service and hospitality standards are upheld - from deli service and wait times, to in-store shopping, to the experience at checkout
- Demonstrate consistent work attendance
- Training new and current staff in the Deli and Kiosk departments
- Work with the Commissary Kitchen team to keep an open and consistent line of communication between the kitchen and the store
- Manage accurate tracking and reporting of waste
- Maintain Luke’s Local retail standards in terms of cleanliness, facing, stocking, tagging, and merchandising
- Maintain clean and orderly space on the floor, in the walk-in, and in the back rooms according to Company protocols
- Ensure food safety standards and a high standard of cleanliness are being met at all times
- Foster a sense of pride in your workspace and the food you provide
- Maintain and hold team accountable to all Daily Line checklists
- Work with Store Manager and ASM to attend to maintenance and repair needs
- Maintaining a positive, equitable work environment for all staff
- Participate in mandatory quarterly department inventory counts
- Communicate and collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, team members, and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner and in line with our Communication Code of Conduct

- Experience with food preparation, service, and safety

$25.50-29.50/hour
