About The Job

The Commissary Kitchen produces thousands of meals, salads, and sides every week. We believe the best way to work and grow together is as a team. No one is above washing dishes, but we also encourage cross-training and skills development at all levels of the kitchen. We believe strongly in investing in our team members to become the best they can be!

Level 1 Cooks are responsible for cleaning dishes, keeping the kitchen clean, taking out the trash, pallet maintenance, helping out in the kitchen on a regular basis with necessary food preparation tasks, as well as assembling and packaging meals, storing perishables, and cleaning and processing fruit and vegetables. This person must have the ability to bounce back and forth between various tasks/projects. Experience in high volume catering or restaurant kitchens is necessary. This is an am job; shift times and days of the week may vary. Luke’s Local provides health benefits (including vision and dental), paid time off, and sick pay.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the daily tasks and completion. 

  • Label and date any and all products prepared. 

  • Completing all tasks, in order, as advised by the Chef or other kitchen manager

  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves 

  • Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, and vegetables

  • Cleaning dishes, washing utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing kitchen surfaces, pallet maintenance 

  • Adherence to all kitchen food safety and sanitation standards

Work environment

  • Industrial kitchen and warehouse

Physical demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive food prep motions.

  • Handling of refrigerated product in a cold environment for extended periods of time.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience with food preparation, service, and safety

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Proficient in English

FLSA Classification

Pay Range

  • $20.00-21.00/hour
